A story for sufferers of varicose veins and those unmentionables, haemorrhoids

Spoiler alert – the hero of this story is a tissue salt – a little mineral miracle. Can you guess which one?
I love tissue salts. They are micro doses of minerals that should be present in everyone’s body. They are very easy to absorb – you can absorb them through the mucous membrane of your mouth; they don’t rely on stomach acid and a well-functioning gut as some supplements do. They have been triturated – that is, the dose has been diluted by repeatedly diluting and agitating the remedies.
Tissue salts span the boundary between homeopathy and nutrition – nutrition because these are minerals, which we all need, and should ideally be getting from our food. Unfortunately in these days of modern farming methods the soil has been depleted – in some cases, there is a huge mineral deficit (quoted from Orgnised.co):
"In 2004, researchers at the University of Texas analysed data from the US Department of Agriculture spanning the years 1950 to 1999 (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15637215/). They tracked nutrient density across forty-three different vegetables and fruits.
What they found was stark. Across the board, minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, and copper had declined significantly – this is happening in the UK too, see this study (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/09637486.2021.1981831)
Some minerals had fallen by more than thirty percent over fifty years".
The first tissue salts were discovered by Dr Schuessler (1828 – 1898) who discovered that a human body reduced to ash contained 12 essential minerals – these are the 12 main tissue salts we tend to work with today (though there are many more).
I am not going to use this post to delve down into each of the salts, you

can do that yourself by reading e.g. Margaret Roberts’ fab little book, “Tissue Salts for Healthy Living”. I am going to tell you a story…
There was a woman in her 50s who knew she had incipient varicose veins – they were not yet sticking out on her legs in knotty lumps, but some veins were more prominent, especially in her right leg. The veins had developed in pregnancy and normally caused no bother at all, except for once a year when she went on a summer holiday. On holiday she would normally stay in a rental apartment and would have to climb several flights of stairs to get to the apartment. She was not sure if it was the summer heat, the aeroplane flight with its changes in air pressure, but for 3 years in a row she would get to her holiday destination, climb the stairs and experience a horrible itching / burning sensation in her legs, especially her right leg. The varicose veins were playing up. This lasted for the whole holiday and continued when she got home again.
Varicose veins develop when the valves that prevent the back flow of blood returning up the legs towards the heart stop working so well. Instead of a smooth steady flow of blood upwards, the blood can start to pool in the legs. This increased pressure can cause the veins to bulge and twist, forming what we know of as varicose veins. The sensation of that failure to return the blood up the legs because of weakened valves is the itching and burning that the woman was experiencing.

This summer, she decided, she’d had enough It was already her habit to take a blend of tissue salts in her drinking water twice a day – she would vary the salts according to her symptoms at the time. This summer she decided to take calc fluor – calcium fluoride, tissue salt number 1 in Schuessler’s system – consistently for 3 months leading up to the summer holiday. She stuck to her guns and took her tissue salts…
…and – it worked! Same air travel, same heat of summer in holiday destination, same stairs (actually this year even more stairs, the flat this year was on the fifth floor of the apartment block with no lift). But zero pains of the varicose veins! Zero itching burning sensation on climbing the stairs, and no symptoms either when she returned.
Calc fluor worked because it is the tissue salt most commonly associated with elasticity of the tissues – in this case, the veins lack elasticity and the valves in those veins do too. It’s great for other symptoms too, including skeletal things like healing of fractures, dental decay, painful haemorrhoids (which are essentially varicose veins of the rectum), and fissures in the skin especially (think cracking at the side of the mouth, cracked heels, eczema that dries and cracks, etc).
This story is 100% true by the way, because it’s me. I seem to have inherited varicose veins from my mum who has awful varicose veins (sorry mum) – she blames her previous job of being a hairdresser and constantly being on her feet – she had her varicose veins “stripped” surgically from her legs 3 times.
There is barely a homeopathic or nutrition consultation that goes by when I don’t prescribe tissue salts – that’s because they are little mineral miracles, and I would urge everyone to use them.
Here's to health
Marie
